Three days after being elected mayor of the newly-formed East Delhi Municipal Corporation,Annapurna Mishra is yet to get an official vehicle.
The official car is yet to be issued. The corporation has been divided,so there arent three different VIP vehicles for all three mayors. As a temporary arrangement,I have been given an old Ambassador, which makes a lot of noise and breaks down every now and then, Mishra told Newsline.
She is likely to get a permanent car only after a fortnight. I have demanded a designated vehicle. But there arent any Ambassadors left with the corporation. They will now buy one and hand it over in two weeks.
Moreover, the state of affairs are worse in the offices of the Mayor,Commissioner,Leader of the House and Leader of Opposition. Due to unavailability of computers, the staff has resorted to archaic methods.
The staff are making circulars and jotting the schedule of the Commissioner and Mayor on paper. To inform them about their appointment,we give them a chit about their schedule. We cant even make different copies as there are no photocopying machines. Also, there is no letterhead where we can print official circulars, said a civic official.
The offices do not even have crockery and drinking water facility. It is so difficult to work in such conditions. People keep visiting either to congratulate us or to complain about the problems in their ward. But we cant even offer them coffee or water because we do not even have crockery, Mishra said.
