If all goes according to plan, the Delhi University (DU) may send marksheets to all first-semester students, whose results were declared this week,on the very day that the second semester classes begin (January 2).
Announcing this,DU Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Singh said,All Delhi University students know that usually, after the results are announced, they have to wait for months to get their marksheets. But this year, were going to send the marksheets to colleges electronically parallel to the declaration of results.
The marksheets will be printed by colleges, and distributed to students after they are signed by the principals concerned. The marksheets are being transmitted to the college in an encrypted format that cannot be tampered with, Singh said.
Welcoming the new system,Ramanujan College principal S P Aggarwal said,Through electronic distribution, the process will become more convenient for the college as well as students. It will also solve the problem of fake marksheets.
However,Dr Hamideen, principal of the Zakir Hussain Evening College, held a different view. As students are being promoted to the next semester, having the marksheet in hand immediately will hardly make a difference in the academic calendar, he said.
