Two days after the police gunned down a man accused of robbery in an Outer Delhi encounter,his two associates were nabbed by the Crime Branch from a hotel in Gurgaon. One of the accused,a university-level boxer,is a DU student. The two have been identified as Aman and Sumit Dahiya.
Man,wife attempt suicide in Rohini
A man and his wife tried to kill themselves after they reportedly failed to repay a loan,which they had taken from their business partner. The incident was reported from Rohini Sector 11 on Wednesday afternoon. Police said that the victims have been identified as Praveen Maheswari (50),who runs his real estate business in Rohini and his wife Sarita (45). They are recuperating.
BJP protests against poverty line figure
Protesting against the Planning Commissions poverty figures,the Delhi unit of the BJP dispatched money orders of Rs 33 each to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and deputy Chairperson of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia. The BJP has challenged top leaders to spend a single day on Rs 33,which the Planning Commission set as the poverty line benchmark.
Two held for visa fraud
The Crime Branch arrested two persons who duped people on the pretext of providing Canadian visas. Five passports stamped with fake Canadian visas and one fake visa sticker were recovered from the accused. Police apprehended Balwinder alias Karan Bhatia and his brother Baba with the fake documents near DDA District Park,Netaji Subhash Place.
