Delhi University has instituted a grievance redressal mechanism for teachers working in its departments and constituent colleges.

The redressal cell will give teachers an avenue to raise their concerns directly with the university, said Dr Rakesh, who was appointed advisor-in-charge of the grievance redressal mechanism.

“We’re still finalising the modalities of redressal but the office has started functioning at the conference centre of North Campus. We have already received some grievances from teachers. Most of the complaints pertain to issues like service conditions, pension funds, leave applications, representation in university bodies, etc,” he said.

“A circular informing teachers that such an office is set up has been put on the university website and I have asked for the same to be sent to colleges as well,” Dr Rakesh said.

An ‘exclusive grievance grievance redressal mechanism’ for teachers was one of the “new and significant measures” for teachers that the university had listed in its appeal to the teaching community asking them to desist from a DUTA-organised dhrana at the Vice-Chancellor’s office last week.
