Driver fails to apply brakes,fire tender rams cars

A fire tender belonging to a private company damaged a number of vehicles near the Signature Tower Chowk on Monday after its driver failed to hit the breaks in time when the traffic signal turned red.

A fire tender belonging to a private company damaged a number of vehicles near the Signature Tower Chowk on Monday after its driver failed to hit the breaks in time when the traffic signal turned red.

The fire tender first rammed a Hyundai i10 after before crashing into a Honda City and a Toyota Corolla which were ahead of it. However, there were no casualties. The fire tender was going from leisure Valley Park to Manesar when it had collided with the cars.

The tender was being driven back from the service centre and its driver claimed the brakes did not work due to a leakage in the pressure brake. “I tried to stop the machine,but due to a leakage in pressure brake,I couldn’t,” said Dharam Singh, the driver.

“I had stopped my car at the Signature Towers signal when the tender hit it from behind. I was surprised how a vehicle can be hitting my vehicle when the traffic was still The tender went on to hit two more cars. The tender driver tried to escape from the spot but was stopped by us,” said Jasveer,whose Hyundai i10 was damaged in the incident.

Meanwhile,no case was registered against the driver. “We cannot file the complaint until we an official complaint. So far,no one has filed a complaint,” said a police officer.
