A woman head constable posted with the Haryana Police and a driver were killed after their car overturned and crashed into a divider at Yamuna Expressway early on Thursday. Two assistant sub-inspectors and two other persons also sustained injuries in the accident.
According to the police, the victims were part of a team who successfully cracked a kidnapping case of a girl from Sonepat. The girl went missing from her house earlier this year and was traced in Chhattisgarh. The team rescued her and was taking her back to her home when the accident took place.
Police said there were seven persons in the car — ASI Vedpal, ASI Veerpal, HC Babita, the girl, her father, the accused, and their driver Pradeep. Around 5.30 am, police received calls from locals about the accident near Dankaur area.
A senior police officer said, “ We were told that the driver took a sudden emergency break during driving. He lost balance of the wheel and the car toppled and crashed into a divider. The woman head constable and the driver died on the spot. Others are undergoing treatment”
Police said the two ASIs and the girl’s father sustained severe injuries and are being treated at Kailash Hospital.
