A woman in Mukundpur area of Delhi allegedly bludgeoned to death her former live-in partner on Monday after which she went to the police station and confessed to the crime, the police said.

According to the police, the 28-year-old woman claimed that she hit Shahid, 28, who came to her house in a drunken state, on the head using a grinding stone and then attacked him with a knife and hammer as he started getting physically abusive with her.

The woman told the police she brutally attacked the man as she was more concerned about her children’s safety.

“The woman’s husband died in 2018. She has four children, one girl and three boys. She had been in a relationship with Shahid for three years. But she ended the affair three months ago because of his abusive nature,” a police official said.

The police said that even after the woman ended the relationship with Shahid, who is already married and has a child, he kept visiting her and threatened to kill her children.

After the confession, the police visited the house and found a man’s body lying in a room on the inside of the house. They also recovered the blood-smeared grinding stone, knife and hammer.

The police at the Bhalswa dairy police station have registered murder case.
