Toyota Fortuner catches fire on Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, narrow escape for driver

A fire broke out in a moving Toyota Fortuner car on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and the man driving the vehicle had a narrow escape as he jumped out of the vehicle in time, officials said on Friday. The fire engulfed the vehicle within minutes.

The incident took place in the Sector-71 area on Wednesday evening and the vehicle was on its way towards Greater Noida from Noida, officials said.

“The reason for the fire is not known yet. We immediately reached the spot after some people informed the fire department. However, the fire engulfed the vehicle within minutes,” Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Choubey said.

Chaubey added that nobody was injured in the incident. Traffic on the route was affected for a while and the charred car was removed from the spot using a crane, he said.
