Delhi records second case of Omicron, 33 now in India

Delhi on Saturday recorded its second case of Omicron, taking the total in the country to 33, after the variant was detected in a 35-year-old man with travel history to Zimbabwe.

The person is fully vaccinated and is currently quarantined and under treatment at the Lok Nayak Hospital. According to a source, the man has mild symptoms and also has a travel history to South Africa.

The first case in Delhi was detected on December 5 in a person with travel history to Tanzania.

International passengers testing positive or those suspected to be infected with Covid-19 upon arrival at the Delhi airport are being referred to the Lok Nayak Hospital for isolation and genome sequencing.

There are currently 31 such people admitted to the hospital and authorities are waiting for the genome sequencing test results of seven of them.
