Delhi: RWAs oppose transfer of 33 HUDA sectors to municipal corporation
The order specifies a three-month window in which HUDA must complete infrastructure work in the sectors.
More than a month after the Haryana government ordered the transfer of 33 Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) sectors to the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), several Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) are up in arms against the move.
RWAs opposed the transfer, saying the civic body cannot transfer sectors without any civic infrastructure such as proper sewage system, roads, water supply and removing unauthorised encroachment. “One can see the condition of those areas under the MCG. The administration should reconsider their decision,” said Ravi Arora, vice-president, RWA Sector 52 Part-I, which is one of the sectors that are to be transferred. Several other RWAs have expressed similar reservations.
To ensure better maintenance of all amenities of those sectors under HUDA, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal last month had approved a standard set of terms and conditions for transfer of such sectors to the concerned municipal corporations, as well as transfer of 33 such HUDA sectors to the MCG.
The order specifies a three-month window in which HUDA must complete infrastructure work in the sectors. The government has set a deadline of April 30 to complete the handover.
The sectors to be transferred to MCD include sectors 3, 4, 7, 7 extension, 9 and 9A, 10A, 12-12A, 14, 17, 18, 21, 22, 23 and 23A, 27, 28, 31, 32, 33, 34, 37 (I and II), 38, 39, 40, 42, 43, 47, 54, 55 and 56.
