A Delhi Police constable has alleged he was assaulted by the station house officer (SHO) of the Gandhi Nagar police station for “not doing his work on time”.

Constable Hansraj, who has been admitted to a private hospital in Patparganj, claimed he was beaten up by the officer inside the police station.

Sources said the SHO told senior officers that the constable had misbehaved with him. He reportedly admitted to pushing the constable, but denied allegations of assault.

A video available on social media purportedly shows the constable levelling allegations against the SHO.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (east) Rishipal said they were looking into the matters.

Sources said an internal inquiry has been conducted, adding that the incident took place on June 8 but the constable was admitted to a hospital two days later.
