Delhi: Parent alleges son was injured and mentally harassed at school, child rights panel issues notice
The injury caused wrist dislocation in both hands, the parent alleged, adding that the school did not inform her about the incident immediately.

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has issued a notice to a government school in East Delhi after a parent filed a complaint alleging that her 15-year-old son has faced injury and mental harassment at the hands of
the school’s physical education teacher.
The mother also accused the school principal of misbehaviour.
The NCPCR, in a notice issued on December 6, said the alleged behaviour violates Section 175 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015. The Deputy Director (Education), East Delhi, has been asked to investigate and file an action taken report within 10 days from the date of issue of the notice.

The parent alleged in the complaint, “On December 2, my son left the school in a healthy condition at 7.45 am but came home early at 10.15 am… he was crying badly from pain. He told me… that a physical education teacher took his class to the ground but despite informing the teacher that he couldn’t play as he suffers from a cardiovascular disease, he was forced to race hand walking, along with five other students… the floor was made of bricks and my son lost his balance.”
The injury caused wrist dislocation in both hands, the parent alleged, adding that the school did not inform her about the incident immediately. She also alleged that while anti-pollution curbs were in place, the school was carrying out outdoor activities.
The mother further accused the school teachers, including the principal, of mentally harassing her when she approached the school.
“I do not know when he will be able to use his hands again…,” she wrote in the complaint.”
