Slamming the Bharatiya Janata Party, AAP leader Jasmine Shah said that most allegations pointing towards a “big scam” were coming in from states ruled by the saffron party. The NEET-UG results were announced by the National Testing Agency on Tuesday (June 4). The results drew immediate attention for the extraordinarily large number of candidates who scored 720/720, and for the reason that some candidates got 718 or 719 — marks that others claimed were impossible to get in the scheme of the exam.
Meanwhile, three people were killed and six others were injured after a factory that deals with dry lentils caught fire in Outer North Delhi in the wee hours of Saturday. Police said a gas leak in one of the pipelines caused the fire which led to overheating of the compressor and subsequent blast.

With the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri now elected to the Lok Sabha, the BJP is looking for a replacement among its seven MLAs to fill the post, news agency PTI reported. Bidhuri won the Lok Sabha elections from the South Delhi constituency. He will be vacating his post, bringing the number of BJP MLAs in the 70-member Delhi Assembly down to seven. As per the PTI report, a senior party leader said that the names of Mohan Singh Bisht, Ajay Mahawar and Vijender Gupta were at the forefront for the post of the LoP in the Assembly.

Fire breaks out at southeast Delhi restaurant, no casualties yet
A fire broke out at a restaurant in southeast Delhi on Saturday evening, news agency PTI quoted officials as saying. Delhi Fire Services (DFS) officials said that there were no reports of injuries yet and that seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot immediately. As per the PTI report, the officials received a call regarding a fire breaking out in electric wires outside a restaurant in Shaheen Bagh's 40 Foota Road at 5.44 pm.
Excise policy case: Delhi court grants interim bail to businessman Amit Arora
A Delhi court on Saturday granted a two-week interim bail to businessman Amit Arora, the director of Gurugram-based Buddy Retail Pvt Limited, in the excise policy money-laundering case, news agency PTI reported. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja, who passed the order, noted that Arora's wife had to undergo a surgery and the accused needed to take care of her.
Delhi water crisis: BJP demands special assembly session, blames AAP govt for 'mismanagement'
The Bharatiya Janata Party has urged the Delhi Assembly speaker to convene a special session of the House in view of the water crisis in the National Capital, news agency PTI reported. "It is requested of you to immediately call a special session of the Delhi Assembly to discuss and find a solution to this crisis and provide relief to the people from this disaster caused by mismanagement of the Delhi government and the Delhi Jal Board," BJP Chief Whip in Delhi Assembly Ajay Mahawar said in a letter to Speaker Ram Niwas Goel.
The Supreme Court on Thursday (June 6) directed the Himachal Pradesh government to release on Friday 137 cusecs of water it has in surplus, to resolve the drinking water crisis in Delhi. It asked Haryana to do the needful to facilitate the water’s flow into the national capital.
Haryana not releasing water to Delhi, says Atishi
Delhi Water Minister Atishi reiterated her attack on Haryana government saying they are releasing less water to the Capital. In a video shared by news agency ANI, Atishi said, "The amount of water is decreasing continuously since the last 5 days. If 1,050 cusecs of water is being released by Haryana, then at least 1000 cusecs of water will reach? The amount of water is decreasing since the last few days. On June 1, 924 cusecs of water reached and on June 2, only 848 cusecs of water reached. Water goes to 7 plants of Delhi through this canal. If water does not reach here, then there will be chaos in the whole of Delhi. The Supreme Court is trying to solve the water problem. Himachal Pradesh is ready to give more water, on the other hand Haryana is stopping the water that is Delhi's right and is not releasing it."
Factory in Narela Industrial Area engulfed in flames: Deceased identified
Three people died and six others were injured after a fire broke out at a pulses processing factory in Delhi’s Narela Industrial Area early Saturday morning. Nine people were rescued and transported to SHRC Hospital, Narela, but three were declared dead on arrival. The deceased were identified as Shyam (24), Ram Singh (30), and Beerpal (42).
Six others who sustained injuries were referred to Safdarjung Hospital. While Pushpender (26), Akash (19), Mohit Kumar (21), Monu (25), and Lalu (32) suffered burn injuries, Ravi Kumar (19) suffered a simple injury from a brick, officials said.
The police said that a gas leak in one of the pipelines caused the fire which led to overheating of the compressor and a blast.
The police control room (PCR) received a call at 3.35 am reporting the blaze with no initial information on people being trapped inside. While the Delhi Fire Services rushed to the spot with 16 fire tenders, responders from Narela Industrial Area police station arrived at the scene to find the factory engulfed in flames.

Excise policy case: Delhi HC refuses to interfere with order nixing Hyderabad businessman Arun Pillai’s plea
The Delhi High Court on Friday refused to interfere with a trial court order which had dismissed Hyderabad businessman Arun Ramchandran Pillai’s plea against commencement of arguments on charge till the conclusion of the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI’s) probe in the excise policy case.
Pillai had moved the high court seeking the setting aside of a trial court’s March 22 order arguing that the CBI had not concluded its investigation even after over 15 months, considering the first information report (FIR) was filed in August 2022.
Pillai had argued that he has been allegedly linked to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) legislator K Kavitha, who was arrested by the agency in April this year, and hence any statement recorded by the CBI in relation to Kavitha must be given to him so that he can rely upon it “during arguments on charge” with respect to him.

PM oath-taking ceremony: Delhi declared no-flying zone for June 9, 10
Given Prime Minister Narendra Modi's oath-taking ceremony on Sunday, the Delhi Police has imposed prohibitory orders and declared the National Capital a no-flying zone, news agency PTI quoted an order issued by the Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora as saying. The orders will be imposed for two days, June 9 and June 10.
"In exercise of the power conferred upon me by section 144 of the CrPC prohibiting flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms like para gliders, para-motors, hang gliders, UAVs, UASs, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small size powered aircraft, quadcopters or even by para jumping from aircraft etc over Delhi during the swearing-in ceremony and doing shall be punishable u/s 188 of the Indian Penal Code," PTI quoted Arora as saying.

East Delhi hospital fire: Safety lectures, demonstrations in medical facilities in the Capital
Following the blaze at a children's hospital in east Delhi last month, the fire department will conduct safety lectures and demonstrations at medical facilities in the National Capital, news agency PTI reported. A fire broke out at Vivek Vihar's Baby Care New Born Hospital on May 26, claiming the lives of seven newborns. The hospital was allegedly operating after the expiry of its licence and no clearance from the fire department. "We have already started a realistic computer-generated simulation on tackling fire-related emergencies for the people of the city," PTI quoted Delhi Fire Services chief Atul Garg as saying.
Excise policy case: Court to consider CBI's supplementary chargesheet against BRS leader Kavitha on July 6
A Delhi court is expected to consider CBI's supplementary chargesheet against Bharat Rashtra Samiti leader K Kavitha in the excise policy case on July 6, news agency PTI reported. The agency had filed the final report before Special Judge Kaveri Baweja, who listed the matter for the next month, extending Kavitha's judicial custody in the corruption case to June 21. In its earlier chargesheet, the ED had said that out of 1,100 crores proceeds of crime, the BRS legislator was responsible for handling 292 crores.
Expanded Terminal 1 likely to open in June, working to increasing international passenger capacity: DIAL
Delhi's airport operator DIAL is likely to open the expanded Terminal 1 for operations this month, and is expected to work towards increasing the capacity of international passengers, news agency PTI reported a top executive as saying. The expanded terminal was inaugurated in March this year.
Medha Patkar defamation case: Delhi court reserves order on sentencing for July 1
A Delhi court on Friday reserved its order on sentencing in the defamation case filed by Lieutnant Governor V K Saxena against activist Medha Patkar, news agency PTI reported. Metropolitan Magistrate Raghav Sharma, before reserving the order, observed that he Delhi Legal Services Authority had submitted a Victim Impact Report, which is prepared after the accused has been convicted in order to judge the quamtum of loss suffered by the victim.
Patkar and Saxena have been locked in a legal battle since 2000 after she filed a suit against him for publishing advertisements against her and the Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA). Saxena was then the chief of Ahmedabad-based NGO National Council for Civil Liberties. Saxena had also filed two cases against her for making derogatory remarks against him on a TV channel and issuing a defamatory press statement.

Delhi Minister Atishi again slammed Haryana government over supply of water during her visit to Wazirabad barrage. Atishi told PTI,"The people of Delhi are facing severe water crisis due to heatwave. But the Haryana government is conspiring against the people of Delhi. You can see that the water level (of Yamuna river) is at 669 at Wazirabad barrage. The Supreme Court is hearing the matter for last four to five days. On the directions of SC, UYRB also conducted a meeting. SC heard the case yesterday and it will also hold a hearing on Monday. But Haryana is conspiring against Delhi people."
Atishi to visit Wazirabad barrage to asses water situation
A day after the Supreme Court asked Haryana to do the needful to ensure water flow into Delhi, Water Minister Atishi accused the neighbouring state government of reducing water flow for the last three days. The apex court had directed the Himachal Pradesh government to release 137 cusecs of surplus water to the national capital and remarked there should be no politics over water.
"....Hon'ble Supreme Court is trying to resolve Delhi's water crisis, but Haryana is conspiring against the people of Delhi.While the case was being heard in Supreme Court, Haryana has been steadily reducing the water being released to Delhi in the last 3 days...." Atishi said on X. The minister will visit the Wazirabad barrage at 11 am to assess the water situation.
IMD forecasts dust storm, light showers in city today
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast dust storm with partly cloudy sky, accompanied by light showers on Friday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 43 degree Celsius and 29 degree Celsius respectively. On Thursday night, parts of Delhi-NCR was hit by strong dust storm.
