Delhi News Updates (September 18): Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Gujarat, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is conducting its first Rashtra Jan Pratinidhi Sammelan at 11 am Sunday at the Indira Gandhi stadium in Delhi. Around 1,500 AAP leaders from across 20 states will participate in the national convention party sources said.
Meanwhile, as the four-day carnival set up by the Ministry of Culture at the newly inaugurated Kartavya Path, with drone shows and cultural performances by regional artists, came to an end, a host of entertainment programmes will be offered by the I&B Ministry for the next month, with a blend of music, dance, street plays, skits and exhibitions.
In other news, Delhi court has granted the anti-corruption branch (ACB) four days’ police custody of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan in connection with a two-year-old case related to alleged irregularities in the Delhi Waqf Board. This comes after the agency’s disclosure in court that Khan received Rs 4 crore in ill-gotten money. Khan’s close aide was arrested Saturday after one unlicensed pistol along with live cartridges were recovered from his possession, police said. This comes a day after the AAP MLA was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) in connection with a two-year-old case related to alleged irregularities in the Delhi Waqf Board.
