Seven persons have been arrested by police for their alleged involvement in the murder of a 45-year-old man in west Delhi, police said. The victim, Harish Sharma, was found with gunshot wounds at the service lane exit gate of Maharaja Agarsen Hospital, a senior police officer said, adding that he was killed after a fight with the accused over a game of cards on Diwali night.
According to police, the seven accused worked in local factories in west Delhi. The main accused was identified as 32-year-old Raju, who was arrested after Sharma’s wife alleged that he had murdered the man.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (west) Monika Bhardwaj said: “The body of the deceased was found with gunshot wounds to his shoulder. He was later identified to be a resident of JJ colony in Punjabi Bagh. A case of murder was registered at Punjabi Bagh police station after his wife gave us a statement. Further investigations are underway.”
Sharma’s wife, in her statement, said that the victim had left home after Diwali prayers to visit a local friend, after which he was found murdered.
