Two Delhi Metro trains on the upcoming magenta line came on the same track during a trial run on Friday. The accident was averted but an inquiry has been ordered by the authorities to look into the matter. Whether a signaling error was responsible for the near-accident is yet to be known.
The magenta line will reportedly be the first circuit on the Delhi Metro where the new ‘driverless’ trains will operate. The line will open for public in phases and is expected to become fully operational by mid-2017.
The new corridor will connect 25 stations between Janakpuri West and Botanical Garden. Metro authorities had extended the trial runs on this line just a few days ago on a 13.5 km stretch between Botanical Garden and Kalkaji Temple.
