Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari has written a letter to BJP MP from south Delhi, Ramesh Bidhuri, highlighting allegations that he abused the district president and district co-incharge during the ‘Run for Unity’ programme organised by the party on Wednesday.
Tiwari, in the letter, also highlighted media reports alleging that Bidhuri’s family members and supporters had clashed with other party workers. Stating that the allegations are serious in nature, Tiwari asked him to explain why disciplinary action should not be initiated against him. Bidhuri has been given 10 days to respond to the letter.
Sources in the party said two groups of BJP workers — one led by Bidhuri and another by Chandan Chaudhary — had clashed over sharing the dais during the ‘Run for Unity’ event. Some party workers later reached the Delhi BJP office and raised slogans against Bidhuri.
Chaudhary, who hails from Bihar’s Khagaria district, also accused Bidhuri of being against Purvanchalis, and claimed that he was beaten by his supporters. He added that he has filed a complaint against Bidhuri and his suporters at Sangam Vihar police station.
Bidhuri, however, called it a political conspiracy against him. “Nowadays everyone has mobile phones… if these allegations were true, some proof or recording would have surfaced by now. The party president has asked me to explain my side of the story and I will respond to him.”
A senior party leader said there is a deliberate attempt to give the issue a “Purvanchali angle”. “There might have been fight between supporters, but saying that they were targeted because they were Purvanchalis is wrong,” he said.
