Delhi: Man held for wife’s murder also planned to kill person she knew, say police

A day after a man was arrested for allegedly killing his wife at their Delhi home because he suspected she was having an affair, the police on Tuesday said that he also planned to murder the man with whom he thought his wife was in a relationship.
He was on his way back to murder the man when he was arrested from Karnal in Haryana on Monday, they added.

Accused Dhanraj (28), who worked with a ride-hailing company, suspected that his wife was having an affair with a 28-year-old man who worked with a delivery app, the police had said. He had gone missing since his wife’s phone was found switched off on December 29.
Dwarka DCP Ankit Singh said, “The accused had murdered his wife on December 29. He was planning to chop her body into pieces and dispose of it. After killing her, he taped her mouth as well to delay the decomposition process.”
According to the police, on January 3, Dhanraj purchased a new SIM card and fled to Agra. “Later, he came back to Delhi and left for Jaipur. On Saturday, he again returned to Delhi and went to Amritsar. A day later, he was coming back to Delhi to kill the man with whom he suspected his wife had an affair when he was arrested,” said Singh.
Earlier, after killing his wife, Dhanraj had allegedly gone to his friend’s house. While having alcohol with him, he admitted that he had killed his wife, the police had said.
“When Dhanraj learnt that the police had questioned his friend, he contacted another friend and took his help to flee,” an officer had said.
The DCP had said that the couple had been married for five years and have a two-year-old child, who is currently living with his maternal uncle.
