Hours after two sisters were shot dead in South West Delhi’s RK Puram area early on Sunday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal flayed the BJP and the Centre over the “poor” law and order situation in the National Capital and said Delhi would have been safer if law and order was “under the AAP government instead of LG “.
Taking to Twitter, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief said, “Our thoughts are with the families of both women. May their souls rest in peace.”
He added, “The people of Delhi have started feeling very unsafe. Instead of fixing the law and order of Delhi, they (Centre) are conspiring to capture governance in the whole of Delhi. If today, the law and order situation was under the AAP government instead of LG, Delhi would have been the safest.”
A Twitter spat soon broke out over the matter. Reacting to Kerjiwal’s statement, Delhi BJP spokesperson Harish Khurana said, “Kejriwal sahab is trying to score against LG, by doing politics over the death of two women.”
“As per police statement, the women were shot following an argument over money. But, Kejriwal sir is trying to blame the centre and LG and doing politics on this matter, which is shameful. He says if the law and order situation was under them, such incidents would not occur. They are remotely controlling Punjab, then why is the law and order situation in Punjab not being handled properly by you. Everyone is looking at the incidents of crime like murder etc in Punjab daily,” said Khurana.
