A day after reports about a sexist and derogatory poster welcoming freshers to Hindu College emerged, its students’ body condemned the words used in it. The poster, which read ‘Yahan Maal aur Maal Dono Milta Hai’, was put up on Freshers’ Day last week.

“This is an administrational lapse on part of the organisers, who should have got the poster removed. It will be an endeavour for the parliament to stay vigilant in this regard in the future… We take pride in the Hindu College students’ body, the boys and girls who elected us, and who have rightly taken offence to the aforementioned phrase…,” a statement issued by college president, Brijesh Tiwari, said.

Several students had complained against the poster, with many writing to Pinjra Tod, a students’ collective that works on gender issues in campuses.
