A five-month old foetus was found dumped in the toilet of a government hospital in southwest Delhi’s Jaffarpur Kalan area Saturday. According to police, the incident came to light when the foetus matter was discovered in a women’s toilet in Rao Tula Ram Hospital at 11 am.
A helper at the hospital discovered the foetus and informed the higher authorities. The matter was later reported to police. Police said they are questioning the hospital staff for more details. CCTV footage from cameras installed in the hospital premises is being scanned to ascertain the identity of the people who dumped the foetus, said an officer.
The foetus has been sent for post-mortem examination and a case has been registered under section 316 (causing death of quick unborn child by act amounting to culpable homicide) of the IPC against unknown persons, said an officer said.
