A major fire was reported at Delhi’s Azadpur mandi Friday evening. At least 11 fire tenders have been rushed to the spot and rescue operations are underway. It was not immediately known if there were any injuries or casulaties reported. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. More details are awaited.

Azadpur Mandi is Asia’s largest wholesale vegetable market in terms of volume and plays a crucial role in determining the price of fruits and vegetables in most of northern India. The Azadpuri Mandi sees hundreds of trucks entering and exiting daily, bring in and transporting fresh produce across the country.
On Wednesday, a fire broke out at a Paying Guest (PG) facility for women in the Mukherjee Nagar neighbourhood of the national capital. The residential area is known for housing student aspirants for competitive exams. No casualties were reported in the fire.
