Delhi Police bust key drug syndicate, seize heroin worth Rs 50 lakh

The Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has busted a prominent drug syndicate operating in the capital, and arrested a key member of the network, the police said on Thursday. The officials also seized heroin valued at over Rs 50 lakh in the illegal market.

The police said that the Anti-Narcotics Task Force team, in a special operation, nabbed the accused, Suraj, on April 21 from near the Shastri Park flyover on Pusta Road, based on the inputs from another peddler who was arrested earlier. At the time of his arrest, Suraj was in possession of 97 grams of heroin, the police said.

According to the police, the investigation began with the arrest of drug peddler Imran on April 4 in Kabir Nagar, while he was attempting to deliver 315 grams of heroin. The police had launched an investigation based on a case registered under Sections 21 and 25 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
