A day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday when the Capital was gearing up for the occasion, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday launched a song titled ‘Namo Pragati Delhi – From Children’s Voices to the Nation’s Voice’ at the Delhi Secretariat.
The song, sung by students of government schools, underlines the vision of ‘One India, Best India,’ Gupta said, also calling it a “significant and priceless gift for the Prime Minister”.
Over 50 government schools have contributed to the celebrations, with more than 300 having submitted handmade cards to the CM who promised to deliver those to the PM.
The CM also praised the children’s performance, stating that the song is not merely music but a manifestation of the nation’s collective sentiment, beautifully brought to life by the young voices.
Delhi Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood and Manjinder Singh Sirsa were also present at the launch.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has reached new heights over the past 11 years,” said Sood. “His visionary thinking and indomitable resolve have established India as a strong and self-reliant nation on the global stage, despite its diversity,” he added.
Meanwhile, the New Delhi Municipal Council is organising an event titled ‘Viksit Bharat ke Rang, Kala ke Sang’, to be held on Friday at Kartavya Path Lawns. This is part of a series of celebrations under ‘Seva Parv’, scheduled for September 17-October 2, to mark the Prime Minister’s birthday.
The event is being organised in collaboration by Padma Vibhushan and Padma Shri awardees, eminent and senior artists of Triveni Kala Sangam, and Delhi University. More than 12,500 artists have already registered, according to the civic body. “The key attraction of the programme will be a 10-km-long canvas painting, to be created by Padma awardees, eminent artists, and students. This initiative aims to set a world record as one of the largest collective works of art ever created,” said NDMC Vice-Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal.
