Delhi civic body, police rush to rescue street dogs kept in unhygienic conditions at RK Puram home

At least eight to 10 street dogs were rescued from a man’s house in South Delhi’s R K Puram Monday evening after he allegedly confined the animals at his home, tortured them and kept them in unhygienic conditions.

The police action came after his neighbours informed the MCD.

Manoj C, DCP (Southwest) said, “We received a call from a family alleging cruelty on dogs in Sector-6, R K Puram. The Station House Officer along with the staff reached the spot and met the caller Rahul. His neighbour, Khus Gode, was found living with eight to ten dogs.”

“We found that Gode is unemployed. He is undergoing treatment at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences. He used to feed the street dogs in the locality and later kept eight to ten of them at his house so that they wouldn’t bite anyone. However, the dogs were kept in a bad condition,” said a senior police officer.
