Delhi businessman murder: Accused spotted in Jaffrabad, cops comb area to nab him

Two months after businessman Sunil Jain (52) was shot dead in East Delhi’s Shahdara, one of the suspects, Sachin Golu, was spotted in Northeast Delhi’s Jaffrabad last week, said sources.
“We had inputs about his presence and several teams rushed to the location but we were not able to find him. Then we scanned CCTV footage and saw a man with a helmet on a scooter. The physique… matched that of the suspect. Teams are carrying out combing operations and the accused will be nabbed soon,” an officer said.

Jain, who owned a utensils business, was murdered in a case of “mistaken identity” by Golu and Naveen Kasana, said police as he had a similar physique and routine as that of the actual target.
The actual target was another man whose juvenile son was involved in the murder of a 40-year-old property dealer and his nephew on Diwali last year. The juvenile’s accomplice, Anil alias Sonu Matka, executed the crime.
“Golu was upset by this. He considered the 40-year-old man his brother and wanted revenge,” said a police officer.

So he and Kasana went looking for the juvenile’s father and ended up shooting Jain, said police.
Matka, a member of the Hashim Baba gang, was shot dead in a joint operation by the Uttar Pradesh STF and the Special Cell of Delhi Police in December last year.
Golu has 11 cases filed against him, including ones related to house theft, attempt to murder, and the Arms Act, among others. He has been arrested thrice by the Special Cell and several times by the officers of Welcome and Bhajanpura police stations in Northeast Delhi.
Last week, the Special Cell had arrested a sub-inspector for allegedly sheltering Golu and Kasana and providing them with financial assistance.
