An eight-year-old girl was found murdered in a field in Outer Delhi’s Samaypur Badli area Friday. “The incident came to light around 10 am when the owner of the field informed the police. Police have not ruled out the possibility of sexual assault in the case,” a senior official said. The victim’s father is an agricultural labourer and works in the field in which her body was found.
“It was the girl’s father who spotted the body and raised an alarm, following which his employer rushed there and called the police,” the officer added.
There was no stab injury, incision mark or other wound on the body, suggesting the girl was strangulated, the official said. “The body has been sent for postmortem and investigation is on,” said Vikramjit Singh, Deputy commissioner of police (outer).
