The Delhi Development Authority has announced that it will auction 13 plots across the Capital for setting up hospitals, nursing homes and poly clinics. The auction, scheduled to take place on March 18 at the Authoritys headquarters in Vikas Sadan,is expected to fetch the agency a sum of over Rs 1,500 crore. Sources, however, point out that it is unlikely all plots will find buyers in times of a troubled realty market.
The plots to be auctioned are located in areas like Sultanpuri,Shalimar Bagh,Dwarka,Rohini and Narela. Seven of these are for hospitals, four for polyclininc and two for nursing homes.
DDA officials confirmed that the total reserve price for all plots stands at Rs 1576.80 crore. Two hospital plots in Dwarka have the highest minimum reserve price of Rs 417.84 crore.
Despite constant political pressure, the authority has so far stood its ground after changing its earlier policy of allotting land to schools and hospitals at nominal rates to conducting auctions for such plots. Non-official members have opposed this policy, going so far as to urge the Lieutenant Governor late last year to reconsider the new policy.
