In another hit-and-run incident in Delhi on Saturday, a cyclist was killed when a Mercedes mowed him down at the Ashram flyover near Bhogal.
The deceased has been identified as Rajesh, a gardener from Madanpur Khadar.
According to the Police, Rajeev Kehti, a passerby, had discovered a bicycle and Rajesh’s body lying about 150 meters from the cycle at the Ashram flyover.
The Sunlight Colony Police Station responded to the distress call and arrived at the scene to find Rajesh dead at the location.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Pradeep Gautam, 45, who surrendered to the police late on Saturday evening, following an extensive search by police teams.
The accused had been entrusted with the car by its owner to sell it, according to police reports.
The police filed a case under BNS sections for rash and negligent driving and causing death by negligence.
The vehicle, which has a UP number plate, is registered to a firm named SDS Infracon Pvt. Ltd. The vehicle’s owner, when located by the police, explained that he had given the car to Gautam to sell because Gautam was responsible for liaising and selling vehicles to other parties.
