Couple held for loan fraud

A husband-wife due has been arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police for allegedly obtaining housing loans against a single property.

A husband-wife due has been arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police for allegedly obtaining housing loans against a single property.

Police said Kamal Kishore Shukla (53) and Shashi Shukla (53) had offered a single property in Vaishali,Ghaziabad,as security to obtain loans from seven different banks.

Verification of the documents submitted in different banks revealed that all the property papers and other documents such as balance sheets,ITRs,PAN Card were fabricated as well,police said. Police also found that the couple had obtained the loans on the pretext of setting up fictitious factories.

The couple had been declared proclaimed offenders by a city court in 2007 and a case of cheating had been registered against them at the EOW in February 2009.

Police arrested the couple from Kolkata on Wednesday. After cases were registered against them,the couple was on the run,police said.
