The son of a councillor who is accused of assaulting a junior engineer of the North Municipal Corporation has also been charged with abduction and falsely implicating the civic official in a bribery case.
Earlier,a city court had turned down the bail plea filed by Chirag Yadav, son of councillor Angoori Devi noting that junior engineer Bhanu Pratap had dared to take action against a local bigwig.
Yadav had allegedly assaulted Pratap on June 27 when the junior engineer was returning from a demolition drive in Libaspur,Outer Delhi.
According to Pratap,he was riding back to office when a car,in which councillor Angoori Devi and Yadav were travelling, overtook him.
The councillor and her son were annoyed that the demolition had taken place under the supervision of Bhanu Pratap. They abused and beat him up. The accused and his aides then forcefully took Pratap to the office of Yaduvanshi Properties in Swaroop Nagar, a senior police officer said.
Pratap has told police that he was photographed to show him accepting a bribe.
A case of abduction has been registered at Samaypur Badli police station.
Responding to Yadavs bail application, the court had said when an MCD team goes for demolition drives,it faces stiff resistance.
In some cases,MCDs engineers who dare to take action are even beaten up by the local big-wigs. If such trends continue,it would become highly difficult for an upright government servant to discharge his duty fearlessly, the court had said.
Asserting that the allegations against Yadav are grave and serious in nature, the bail application was dismissed.
