A day before the police custody of the doctor-couple accused of confining and ill-treating their 13-year-old domestic help was to end,they were produced before the Duty Magistrate on Sunday.
Police surrendered the couple claiming that their investigation was complete and they didnt require the couple any longer for probe.
The couple was ordered to be produced before a local court on Monday. The Vermas have been sent to 14 days judicial custody.
Mahadev,who was arrested three days ago,was also produced before the magistrate.
Sources said it has been established that the girl was tortured. A status report will be filed soon and sent to the court. The school certificate,procured from the her school in Gumla,has revealed the her year of birth to be 1997.
Meanwhile,investigations into the case revealed that the childs mother was paid Rs 18,000 by Narayan Sahu who convinced her that he could get the child a decent job in the Capital.
Police have also obtained the addresses of Sahu and Mukesh,the manager of the placement agency and the alleged mastermind of the human trafficking racket.
A team has been sent to Veerkheda village in Gumla,Jharkhand,to arrest them both, said a senior police officer investigating the case. Police said they got Sahus address from Mahadev.
Sources said once Sahu and Mukesh are arrested,the human trafficking racket will be unearthed.
We will also be able to establish whether there were any other girls trafficked through this agency, said a police officer.
The arrest of the co-accused will also establish if the girl was paid any salary and what deal was struck between the couple and the placement agency in Punjabi Bagh.
