Modern School will, however, remain open, according to Vasant Vihar branch principal Goldy Malhotra.

S L Jain, principal of the Mahavir Senior Model School and chairman of the National Progressive Schools’ Conference (NPSC),said he would consider the extension of winter holidays only for the junior classes as terminal examinations were scheduled for the week.

“For the primary students,we will see how many come tomorrow since news channels have started reporting that the government has closed schools. We will accordingly decide on whether to keep the school closed for them the day after,” Jain said.

The school will remain open for the senior wing — Class 6 to 12.

As the chairman of the NPSC,Jain said,he would recommend to all its member schools to start the winter break from January 1 instead of December for the coming year.
