The secretary to the chief minister has reportedly written to the Ministry of Urban Development asking for a D-II, Type-V, three-bedroom flat for Arvind Kejriwal. The move comes after the allotment of two duplex flats on Bhagwan Dass Road led to controversy, leading to the CM declining to take up the accommodation.
“Since the CM wanted a house in his constituency and the Delhi government doesn’t have flats in the New Delhi constituency, we have sought help from the UD ministry.
As per the requirement, we have asked for a D-II , Type-V flat, which will essentially be a three-bedroom flat,’’ an official said. The Delhi government has asked for this matter to be kept under wraps after the controversy created over the CM’s earlier choice of duplex flats at Bhagwan Dass Road. This house has already been surrendered by the CM.
Kejriwal had announced his decision not to take up the two five-bedroom duplex flats, saying there was a lot of controversy over the new house.

He had said he would ask for a smaller house and work from his house in Ghaziabad till one was found.
“My friends, supporters have been calling me and sending me messages saying I should not move into the five-bedroom flat. So, I have decided to forego them. I am asking the government to look for smaller accommodation for me,” he had said.
