A 16-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped from near her house in Ghaziabad and gangraped by three men in Noida on Wednesday evening.

Police said the three accused have been arrested and their vehicle, a Mahindra Scorpio, has been seized.

Superintendent of Police (City) Shiv Hari Meena said the accused have been identified as Navin Singh (20), Aman Thakur (19), Titu (28).

A senior police officer said the incident took place between 4 pm and 7 pm on Wednesday. “The victim, a Class X student, was returning from her tuition classes when a Mahindra Scorpio with the three accused inside stopped beside her. As she knew one of the accused, Naveen, who is a BCA student, they struck up a conversation. However, they lured her inside the vehicle and took her to a hotel in Noida. According to the complaint, they gangraped her and then dropped her at Vijay Nagar in Ghaziabad. The girl informed her family who then filed a complaint,” the officer said.

A case under IPC sections relating to kidnap and rape as well as sections of POCSO (Protection of Children against Sexual Offences) has been registered.

“The three accused have been arrested by Vijay Nagar police. The girl has been sent for a medical examination to the district hospital in Sanjay Nagar,” Meena said.

Police said while Navin and Aman were residents of Vijay Nagar, Titu was from Sarfabad village in Noida. “Navin had met the victim at a wedding a few months ago,” the officer said.

Senior officers said they were trying to ascertain if the girl was threatened as well. “The victim is still in a state of shock and details will be clearer once she narrates her version of events. We are waiting for the results of the medical examination and investigations are under way,” the officer said.
