Class X Board exam ‘pressure’ leads teen to commit suicide

Wary of faring poorly in Maths in the ongoing Board exams,a Class X student of Delhi Public School,Indirapuram,took his own life on Friday night,the police said.

Wary of faring poorly in Maths in the ongoing Board exams,a Class X student of Delhi Public School,Indirapuram,took his own life on Friday night,the police said. The family found 16-year-old Gaurav Shukla’s body from the backyard of their house (256,Shakti Khand-III,Indirapuram) on Saturday morning. He had reportedly hanged himself from a ceiling fan in the backyard.

The family had last evening gone to the hospital where Gaurav’s father,Sriprakash Shukla,a pharmacist at Noida District Hospital,had undergone an eye surgery. The police said they returned late and assumed the boy was asleep in his room. “It is a clear case of suicide,” Indirapuram SHO Jitender Kalra said.
