Gurgaon: A traffic police personnel,Shravan Kumar,was suspended after he was found taking bribe from a commuter on false grounds. According to police,a BPO employee,Dakshya Budhiya,was stopped by Kumar,who demanded bribe and threatened of booking Budhiya under various Sections of traffic rules. Budhiya recorded the exchange on his mobile phone and later uploaded the video on the traffic police’s account on Facebook. DCP (Traffic) Bharti Arora has confirmed the incident.

Inquiry against 4 cops for illegal detention

New Delhi: A vigilance inquiry has been ordered against four policemen for illegally detaining and beating up a man in police custody in Inderpuri,Southwest Delhi. “Inquiry has been ordered against Station House Officer Ramesh Chander,Sub-Inspector Datta Ram and constables Darshan Singh and Sandeep,” said a senior police officer. The victim,Arun Kumar,reportedly told the police that there was a fight in Todapur village,Inderpuri,on March 24 and he was passing through the area at the time. S-I Ram forced him to come to the police station,where he was beaten and locked up,Kumar alleged.

Woman who jumped off Metro station identified

New Delhi: The 22-year-old woman,who allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the 40-foot high Aman Vihar Metro station on Tuesday,has been identified as a student of Delhi University. Police said the victim’s father is an accountant with a private firm and was in Haridwar when his daughter took the extreme step. “The reason behind her action is not known yet,” said Bhairon Singh Gurjar,Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime). She succumbed to injuries at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.

Four arrested for robbing Rs 20 lakh

New Delhi: Four men were arrested for allegedly holding a family in Kirti Nagar hostage for hours and robbing Rs 20 lakh from the household. The accused used an air gun to threaten the family,police said. The family’s driver reportedly gave the robbers a tip off that the family was an easy target. The incident was reported on Monday afternoon. The accused have been identified as Veer Bahadur (22),Satbir (23),Raju (19) and Atique (19). Two of their associates,Jugnu and Dhirender,are still on the run. Police have recovered Rs 7.70 lakh and jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh from their possession. “
