As part of the Joy of Giving Week-2011 (October 2 to 8),various events will be organised across India. In the Capital, functions have been planned to help raise funds for charity and provide people with a platform to volunteer for various causes.

Around 200 students of Mass Communication,Documentary Filmmaking and Social Work will make films that document the work of NGOs in the city. The project is called ‘Shoot for Cause’.

Also planned is ‘Vastrasamman’,an all-India cloth collection drive allowing individuals and groups to drop clothes at designated points. ‘School to School’ campaign will collect under-utilised school material from schools and donate it to resource-starved schools. ‘Read-a-fest’ programme will be held on October 6,where volunteers will help create audio books for the visually-impaired.

Those interested in volunteering or contributing during the Joy of Giving Week can browse through events planned at the campaign site joyofgivingweek.ning.com and contact organisers of events. People can also plan their own events and register them at the website.
