As part of the Joy of Giving Week-2011 (October 2 to 8),various events will be organised across India. In the Capital,functions have been planned to help raise funds for charity and provide people with a platform to volunteer for various causes.
Around 200 students of Mass Communication,Documentary Filmmaking and Social Work will make films that document the work of NGOs in the city. The project is called Shoot for Cause.
Also planned is Vastrasamman,an all-India cloth collection drive allowing individuals and groups to drop clothes at designated points. School to School campaign will collect under-utilised school material from schools and donate it to resource-starved schools. Read-a-fest programme will be held on October 6,where volunteers will help create audio books for the visually-impaired.

The Joy of Giving campaign,which was launched in India in 2009,organised events in nearly 40 cities across the country last year,leading to the mobilisation of nearly Rs 20 crore in cash and kind.
During this years Joy of Giving Week,as many as 251 registered events will be conducted across India,an increase from the 130 that had been registered three days from when the campaign started last year, said Hema Lumba,a volunteer.
