Two betting rackets busted,5 held
New Delhi:Two cricket betting syndicates were busted with the arrest of five persons,the Crime Branch said on Sunday. Police said the syndicates were active during the recently concluded IPL T20 series. The first group involving Amit Gupta (24) and Pradeep Dalal (28) who have been arrested was operating out of a house in Rohini. The second group including Naresh,Ajay and Sanjay was working out of a hotel room in Karol Bagh,police said.
Three held for robbery at NDMC office
New Delhi:Three persons have been arrested for allegedly robbing the electricity office of NDMC in Bharti Nagar on March 22 night. Azharudin,Tahir alias Raja and Anis alias Kalua were arrested on Sunday. The three had decamped with mobile phones and power cables worth Rs 1.5 lakh,police said.
Civic bodies remove encroachments
New Delhi:The North and South Municipal Corporations on Monday removed several illegal constructions on Monday. The North corporation removed 44 illegal hutments at Desh Bandhu Gupta Road. The hutments had encroached around 1,000 square metres of the road. The South corporation sealed six properties and demolished five more in the Central Zone.
Gurgaon gets more intra-city buses
Gurgaon:Haryana Roadways expanded its Gurgaon intra-city bus service fleet by adding 20 more buses. These buses will ply on three new routes,taking the number of intra-city routes to seven. The new routes are from HUDA City Centre Metro Station to Sohna Road,Badshahpur; Basai Chowk to Gurgaon Bus Stand; and Palam Vihar to Gurgaon Bus Stand.
Wanted criminal arrested in Noida
Noida:Police on Monday arrested a criminal,carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 for his alleged involvement in almost two dozen criminal cases spanning in Greater Noida,Noida,Ghaziabad and Faridabad in the NCR region. Sunder Bhati,resident of Ghangola village in Greater Noida,was arrested from Naya Gaon area in the district.
Citi fraud main accused,father get bail
chandigarh:The alleged mastermind behind the multi-crore Citibank fraud case,Shivraj Puri,and his father,Raghuraj Puri,were were granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday. The High Court had earlier granted bail to Deeksha Puri,mother of the prime accused Shivraj Puri,in the case. Both Shivraj and Raghuraj were lodged at Bhondsi Jail in Gurgaon.
Bill to check placement agencies
New Delhi:The Delhi governments draft Bill on placement agencies,which was shared with the Delhi High Court on Monday,proposes that only agencies with valid licences will be able to run this business. The draft Bill also provides for appointment of an authority,which will oversee the registration and subsequent functioning of the placement agencies. It will have the power to cancel licenses of errant agencies.
