NEW DELHI: Handed over to the Delhi Police on a transit remand,notorious thief Devendra Singh alias Bunty chor was brought to the Capital from Bhopal in a police car on Tuesday night. He will be questioned by police for two days in connection with thefts committed at New Friends Colony and Safdarjung. On his way to Delhi,Bunty had reportedly asked police to leave him alone in the car as he was “a saint… above human beings”,and sitting with them would “belittle his stature”. He denied his involvement in the crimes,also claiming that he was a “follower of Lord Jesus and not an Indian citizen”.

Man arrested for duping five-star hotels

NEW DELHI: A man has been arrested for cheating five-star hotels across the country for the past 10 years. Sarthak Rao Babras (31),a resident of Port Blair,Andaman and Nicobar Islands,used to check into hotels claiming to be a guest of a senior bureaucrat,police said. He would hand in a recommendation letter,a photo ID card and a PAN card to the hotel. At the time of checking out,Babras told the hotels that the bureaucrat would pick up the tab.

Vendor arrested for hoax bomb call

New Delhi: A 27-year-old vegetable seller was arrested for allegedly making a phone call to the police threatening to blow up the Shadipur bus depot,police said. “Satish Kumar was apprehended from Baljeet Nagar on Tuesday,soon after he made a call to police,” said Devesh Srivastava,Additional Commissioner of Police (Central). In view of Republic Day,senior police officers and the Bomb Disposal Squad rushed to the spot. “A search was conducted to trace the bomb,but nothing was found,” said Srivastava.
