City briefs : 7 held for selling new cars as scrap

Seven men were arrested from Subhash Nagar in West Delhi following information that they took bank loans to buy new cars and sold them in scrap markets,and later lodged FIRs alleging theft of the vehicles.

New Delhi:Seven men were arrested from Subhash Nagar in West Delhi following information that they took bank loans to buy new cars and sold them in scrap markets,and later lodged FIRs alleging theft of the vehicles. They told police that they claimed the insurance money,which acted as capital to avail of loans and buy more cars. “A man in Mayapuri scrap market helped these men,who are from Mewat. They used to dismantle vehicles and sell the parts as scrap,” a police officer said.

Police arrest boy for shooting at rival

New Delhi:A boy,who has two cases of murder registered against him in South Delhi,was arrested for shooting at a criminal in Ambedkar Nagar,Northwest Delhi. During questioning,the boy said he wanted to kill his rival before he turned 18 next week. “Now that he is a juvenile,he thought he could escape legal proceedings,” an officer said.

Case against Sheila sent to higher court

New Delhi:A city court on Wednesday sent a complaint of corruption against Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and others to a higher court. RTI activist Vivek Garg has alleged that Dikshit and Transport Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely favoured a private company in a contract,causing losses to the public exchequer.

Wanted criminal killed in encounter

Gurgaon:The Haryana Police’s Crime Branch on Wednesday gunned down a man,who was allegedly involved in 20 cases of murder,kidnapping and dacoity.

Virendra,who was wanted for the murder of a Kurukshetra University student leader,was killed at Dhankot around 10.30 am.
