50-year-old advocate arrested for raping client
New Delhi: A 50-year-old advocate was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping his client regularly for two years,police said. According to the police,the accused Bhupendra Singh raped his client regularly from 2004 to 2006. The 35-year old complainant alleged that she was raped by the accused but she did not complain against him as she was being constantly threatened, said deputy commissioner of police (north west),Meenu Choudhary. The complainant had sought Singhs legal services in a case related to cruelty by husband and harassment for dowry,Choudhary added. The accused is on remand,police added.
25 policemen sent on leave for playing truant
Gurgaon: Twenty-five policemen in the entire district have been sent on compulsory leave for three to six months for missing during duty hours and for lapse in duty. The move comes after Commissioner of Police S S Deswal conducted a surprise inspection at different police stations. Most of those forced to go on leave were in the rank of head constables and constables. We have been acting on these issues for a long time now. None of the policemen have been spared. Not only have they been sent on leave,their earn leaves too have been deducted, said Joint Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar Mittal.
