Chartered accountant shot at in Welcome

A chartered accountancy student was allegedly shot at by unidentified assailants on Monday morning in Welcome area of Northeast district.

A chartered accountancy student was allegedly shot at by unidentified assailants on Monday morning in Welcome area of Northeast district. Police said the victim,Rakesh Kumar,22,was hit by a bullet below his waist.

The incident occurred when he was walking towards the bus stand to board a bus to his institute around 8 am. The police said two assailants came on motorcycle and shot at him from behind before escaping from the spot.

Passersby immediately called the police who suspect that someone known to the victim may be involved in the incident. Kumar was to get married on May 2.

“We’re trying to find out if someone was jealous of his marriage or if there was a love angle. He isn’t known to have any enemies and a robbery attempt seems impossible,” the police officer said. “We are also going to question friends and acquaintances to get leads in the case,” a police officer said. Meanwhile,the victim has been admitted to the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital. He is said to be out of danger. A case has also been registered.
