A Honda CRV was carjacked in GK I. Police sources said the incident occurred on Sunday when its owner had gone to Urban Pind in the N-block market.
The police believe the modus operandi used was very much similar to several such incidents reported from South Delhi,including the carjacking of an Audi from Saket.
The assailants struck at about 12.30 am,when the driver,identified as Manjeet Kumar Gupta,was waiting for the owners who were inside the pub, police sources said. Manjeet had parked the car on the roadside when assailants came and threatened him of dire consequences, the sources said.
Manjeet in his statement to the police stated: Two men came and checked the surroundings. After a few minutes they threatened me and asked me to get in the car if I wanted to live. They were armed.
Police sources said Manjeet was given some sedatives and was thrown out of the car in a village on the outskirts of Delhi. He first contacted his employers who then approached us with a complaint, a senior police officer said.
A case has been registered at the Greater Kailash police station. DCP (South) H G S Dhaliwal could not be reached for comment despite repeated attempts.
When contacted,DCP (Southeast) Shalini Singh said,A probe into such incidents is on and not much can be said at this point of time.
