Stating that no major decision should be imposed on the people of Delhi without taking their elected representatives into confidence, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday demanded that Lt-Governor Najeeb Jung call a meeting of MLAs of all parties to discuss Delhi’s Budget proposals.

“The Aam Aadmi Party demands that Lt-Governor Najeeb Jung convene an all-party meeting immediately for seeking their views to tide over the alarming situation prevailing in the city due to long power cuts, rising prices of essential commodities and the administration’s failure in managing day-to-day affairs,” the statement issued by the party stated.

“Such a meeting is also the need of the hour since the central government is likely to present the Budget of Delhi in Parliament soon, and with the Lt-Governor having kept the state Assembly in suspended animation for five months now, the opinion of parties represented in the Assembly must be taken into account by the Centre,” the statement stated.

Raising issues of erratic power and water supply in the capital, along with the risisng prices of essential commodities like onions and tomatoes, the party exhorted Jung to convene the all-party meeting to avoid a “situation of chaos” in the capital.
