A 38-year-old businessman and his wife were shot at by
four unidentified assailants after he attempted to thwart their attempt to rob him outside his home in Kavinagar,Ghaziabad,on Saturday.
Police said Anuj Garg received a bullet injury to his lower back,while his wife Deepa was shot in the thigh.
Both are recovering at Sarvodaya Hospital and are out of danger,police said.
According to police,the incident took place when Garg reached home on Saturday around 8.30 pm. Garg owns a glass showroom in Navyug Market,Ghaziabad. He was returning carrying his daily collection of over Rs 1 lakh in a bag. As he was getting out of his car,four armed men accosted him and asked him to hand over the bag. Instead he threw the bag inside the compound of the house. Subsequently,they shot at him. When his wife rushed out,they shot at her and and escaped with the bag. Residents rushed them to a nearby hospital, an officer said.
Officers added that the accused were possibly aware of Gargs daily schedule,and were lying in wait.
We suspect that someone known to Garg,either personally or through his business,is involved. Teams have been set up to nab the culprits and further investigations are underway, a senior police officer said.
