Businessman robbed of Rs 10 lakh,shot

A 35-year-old businessman was robbed and shot dead by four unidentified assailants at a busy market place in Laxmi Nagar.

A 35-year-old businessman was robbed and shot dead by four unidentified assailants at a busy market place in Laxmi Nagar,East Delhi,late on Sunday.

Police said the bike-borne robbers fled with Rs 10 lakh that Atul Jain,a garments trader at the Mangal Bazaar,was carrying in a bag.

“Jain was outside his house when four bike-borne men approached him around 9 pm. There was no scuffle or argument. One of the assailants pulled out a gun and shot Jain four times,killing him on the spot,” said a senior police officer.

Jain was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital,where doctors declared dead on arrival.

Police said the assailants were on two motorcycles. After the firing,however,as one of the assailants was boarding a bike,it fell down. All four then escaped on one motorcycle,leaving the other behind.

The bike left behind by them was stolen from Zaffrabad,police added.

Investigation in the case is on and several teams have been sent to nab the culprits,police said.
