Brawl over delay in food order leads to customer’s murder at Rajouri Garden dhaba; owners arrested

The injured was taken to a hospital by his friends where he was declared dead.

An altercation over delayed service of food at a dhaba escalated into a major brawl leading to the death of a customer, allegedly at the hands of the owners of the eatery, during the early hours of Wednesday.

The incident took place in West Delhi’s Rajouri Garden, said police.

The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Harmeet Singh Sachdeva.

DCP (West) Vichitra Veer said police received information from the hospital regarding a person being brought dead. A police team was immediately formed; on initial enquiry, it was found that Sachdeva had gone to a dhaba names Kafilla and ordered a food item.

Said the DCP, “Due to a delay in the arrival of his order, an altercation took place between him and the staff there. The staff of the restaurant made a call to the owners, Ketan Narula and Ajay Narula. The owners arrived there with a few persons and a fight ensued between the owners, the victim, and his friends.”

The injured was taken to a hospital by his friends where he was declared dead. The owners of the dhaba have been arrested. “How the restaurant was operating at those hours is also being enquired into,” said the DCP.

An FIR has been registered in the case under sections pertaining to murder, among others.
