The charming details of old-fashioned dresses big bows, lace, wide collars and pintucks found their way into Mumbai-based designer Gayatri Khannas dainty collection, showcased in Delhis Taj Palace Hotel on Sunday. In the runway show, designed exclusively for Mercedes Benz, the models glided down the ramp in cream dresses trussed with a bow, chic jumpsuits, tunics in kaleidoscopic prints and crocheted tops. Most of the dresses are tailored based on European lines, said Khanna,33,a relatively new designer who came up with her first line in 2007. A bow is perfect to wear over an evening dress and a definite spring-summer trend, added Khanna. The line-up began with casuals and ended with Indian wear, which included black georgette saris. On Mercedes association with fashion,Dr Wilfried Aulbur, managing director and CEO of Mercedes Benz,India, said,We try to associate with fashion that signifies style and elegance. Last year Wendell Rodericks designed for the show. The collection, comprising 45 outfits,is available at Kimaya stores.
