Body in car: Two held, police on lookout for third

A close friend of Daksh said that he was trying to open his own event management firm.

A day after a 23-year-old hotel management graduate was found dead in a car outside the Sultanpur Metro station in South Delhi, the Delhi Police arrested two persons in connection with the case. In a statement, police said the reason behind the murder was “personal enmity”.

However, sources said the victim and one of his friends were close to the same girl, an angle that police are still looking at. Police are also on the lookout for another person who may be involved in the crime.

“The accused have been identified as Satish (23), a resident of Sangam Vihar, and Virender (27), a resident of Ghitorni. Satish is a DTC bus driver and has cases of robbery and Arms Act registered against him. Virender is a milkman, is married and has a daughter. They have been arrested for murder under Section 302 (murder) of IPC. We are probing all possible angles” Deputy Commissioner of Police B S Jaiswal said.

On Thursday, the body of Daksh, a resident of Sarita Vihar in South East Delhi, was found with several injury marks in a Maruti Ritz outside the Sulatnpur Metro station. Police said the injury marks had been caused by repeated stabbing.

“We first located Daksh’s friend Mukesh Mehra who helped us identify the victim. With the help of call detail records, the two accused were arrested. During questioning, the accused revealed that they had an old enmity with Daksh, because of which they killed him. They hit Daksh on the head with a rod repeatedly and dumped him in the car before fleeing,” Jaiswal said.
Speaking to Newsline, Daksh’s mother said “He had left the house for Le Meridien, saying he was going to a party with his friend Mukesh. While Mukesh came back, we didn’t hear about Daksh till the next morning when the police informed us about his body.”

She said Daksh, who had completed hotel management from Amity University this year, would often go out at night with his friend. “He would go out for work-related conferences and said something about having his own set-up,” she said. A close friend of Daksh said that he was trying to open his own event management firm. She added that she tried calling Daksh at 9 am on Thursday morning, but his phone was switched off. Sources said Daksh had last contacted a friend on Thursday at 1.30 am. Police said they were investigating all possible angles.
